The Public Movie Grant for Best Entertainer, authoritatively known as the Rajat Kamal Grant for the Best Entertainer (Hindi elocution: [rədʒət̪ kəməl]), is an honor introduced every year at the Public Movie Grants of India organized beginning around 1967 to entertainers who have conveyed the best execution in a main job inside the Indian movie industry.[1] Called the "State Grants for Movies" when laid out in 1954, the Public Movie Grants service is more seasoned than the Directorate of Movie Celebrations. The State Grants organized the singular honor in 1968 as the "Bharat Grant for the Best Entertainer"; in 1975, it was renamed as the "Rajat Kamal Grant for the Best Actor".[1][2][3] Over recent years, representing ties and rehash champs, the Public authority of India has introduced a sum of 52 "Best Entertainer" grants to 40 entertainers. Until 1974, victors of the Public Film Grant got a puppet and declaration; starting around 1975, they have been granted with a "Rajat Kamal" (silver lotus), testament and a money prize.[a][2]
Albeit the Indian entertainment world produces films in around 20 dialects and dialects,[1] the entertainers whose exhibitions have won grants have worked in seven significant dialects: Hindi (25 honors), Malayalam (fourteen honors), Tamil (nine honors), Bengali (five honors), Marathi and Kannada (three honors) and English (two honors).
The principal beneficiary was Uttam Kumar from Bengali film, who was respected at the fifteenth Public Film Grants in 1967 for his exhibitions in Anthony Firingee and Chiriyakhana.[5] He was likewise the main entertainer who won this honor for two distinct movies around the same time. Starting around 2020, Amitabh Bachchan is the most respected entertainer with four honors. Kamal Haasan, Mammootty and Ajay Devgn with three honors, while six entertainers — Mohanlal, Sanjeev Kumar, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Mithun Chakraborty, and Dhanush — have won the honor twice. Two entertainers have accomplished the distinction for acting in two dialects — Mithun Chakraborty (Hindi and Bengali) and Mammootty (Malayalam and English).[6] Riddhi Sen is the most youthful beneficiary of the honor at 19 years old. The latest beneficiaries are Ajay Devgn and Suriya, who were regarded at the 68th Public Film Grants for their exhibitions in the movies Tanhaji and Soorarai Pottru separately.
